Drop/Withdrawal Policy

If you choose to withdraw from a course, the notification must be received in writing—via email or fax—before 5:00 PM Eastern time, no fewer than seven (7) days prior to the class start date. (Notification may be required earlier if noted in a course or program description.) Once this notification is received, a full refund will be issued, minus a $25 processing fee. No refunds will be given after this period.

All withdrawals must be submitted in writing and can be submitted in one of two ways:

  • Online: Log into your student portal to view your classes and click the "Drop Class Online" button. Follow the prompts for the drop/course withdrawal option.
  • By Email: Send a message to learn@emory.edu with your name and the course you wish to drop

Course Cancelation Policy

Emory Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes due to low enrollment. Such decisions may be made three (3) business days prior to the class begin date.

  • If a course is rescheduled for any reason, those registered will be contacted to verify availability for the rescheduled date. If those registered are not available for the rescheduled class date, tuition will be refunded in full.
  • If a course is canceled, tuition will be refunded in full.
  • Refunds to the original form of payment can be processed on request.

Refund Policy

Provided that requests are received in writing before 5:00 PM Eastern time, no fewer than seven (7) days prior to the class start date, refunds will be made in the form of the original payment.

  • Please allow up to four weeks for check refunds.
  • Failure to attend class or stopping payment on a check or credit card does not constitute withdrawal.
  • A $35 fee will be charged for returned checks and stop payments.

Refunds to military service members, veterans and their immediate families will be issued on a pro rata basis, per Veterans Affairs regulations.

Note: Some programs require additional notice due to the nature of the program; exceptions are noted on program pages or in course descriptions.

Transfer Policy

Unless otherwise noted in the course description or program terms & conditions, you may transfer a course registration once, for a fee of $25. The request must be received in writing before 5:00 PM Eastern time, no fewer than seven (7) days prior to the class start date. If you fail to attend the class you transferred into, you forfeit the full course tuition.

Discontinued Course Policy

Emory Continuing Education reserves the right to discontinue, postpone, combine, and/or change instructors for a course or program without notice. Refunds prompted by discontinuation will be made in full and can be made to the original form of payment upon request.
