To move up in your workplace, make a career transition, or simply do a better job of promoting your skills and talents, you need to engage in effective self-advocacy. Although lawyers spend years in law school learning how to advocate for others, no one teaches us how to effectively advocate for ourselves. Join us as we learn from a Harvard trained lawyer how you can better claim, honor, articulate, and effectively offer what only you can in the world . . . and why you must. In this 2-hour seminar, you will learn about the delicate art of self-advocacy, assess yourself on the four component parts, and gain skills to identify, speak to, and leverage your unique value with confidence and integrity.
About Our Speaker
Sarah started her professional journey by graduating from Harvard Law School, going to a job on Wall Street, and quickly rejecting that professional life for a more wholehearted one. She left her life as a Wall Street attorney to become a volunteer in Haiti. While living in a tent and building schools and water filters, she reconnected to her values, and returned to become a career coach and professor at a top 25 law school. As a professor and career advisor, she coached individual law students and created coursework to help students identify their professional strengths, interests, and values and taught the invaluable tools of professional self-advocacy. Sarah’s coursework is now mandatory for first-year students at Emory Law, she is now working to integrate this coursework at Duke’s Pratt School of Engineering, and she started her own company, Miracles Incorporated, to inspire and equip people from all industries to claim and realize their unique professional potential.
