Katherine Moore, AICP has served as Program Director, Project Manager and Planner in the sustainability, community development, water resources, and environmental fields for 16 years. For 12 years Katherine worked in the private sector as a consulting planner in Birmingham and Atlanta on greenspace planning, watershed management and community planning. This professional experience included the EPA’s first two Supplemental Environmental Projects (SEPs) in lieu of fines for violations of the Clean Water Act—Consent Orders between EPA Region 4 with Jefferson County, AL ($30M SEP) and the City of Atlanta ($25M SEP). These projects signified a dramatic shift in the way EPA enforcement addressed nonpoint source pollution mitigation. The last 4 years Katherine has served as the Director of the Georgia Conservancy’s statewide Sustainable Growth program, bringing educational training, technical development/redevelopment expertise and community engagement services to a variety of client communities in order to create master plans that influence a more sustainable development pattern. This program has worked with over 27 communities across Georgia and is putting new emphasis on school siting, small town stabilization, and access to public recreation facilities as an approach to sustainability.
