Real Estate Law

This course is an elective in the Paralegal Certificate, but may also be taken as a standalone course. This course is offered once per year.

This course provides an analysis of the basic principles involved in real and personal property law, as well as a practical understanding of real estate transactions, land lord-tenant issues, and land use restrictions.


After this class, you will be able to:

  • Understand the closing process from contract to document execution
  • Recognize all of the documents that are relevant to the real estate transaction process
  • Understand how to conduct a title examination and present the results in a title commitment
  • Analyze land lord-tenant issues and timelines
  • Recognize the relevant land use concepts, land use restrictions, and language
