Biography

David GoldsmithDavid Goldsmith received an early education in art at New York City's High school of Music and Art. Finding artistic expression in science as well he gained a BS in Chemistry at the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. at Columbia University. Coming to Atlanta in the 1960's he joined the department of chemistry at Emory where he became Professor of chemistry and served as Chair of the department in the 1980's. During his years on the Emory faculty while teaching and carrying on a research program in organic chemistry, he maintained, as well, an active interest in photography. Since the 1990's he has been working in digital photography acquiring images with both digital cameras and scanning techniques. Employing Adobe Photoshop since its introduction he has become skilled in the use of this tool for the editing and printing of digital images. As a member of the Atlanta Photographic Society he has given presentations of digital photographic techniques. His inkjet color, and black and white prints have been shown in exhibitions at the galleries of the Atlanta Photographers Group, the Alliance Française and the Unitarian church.
