Biography

Stephanie HowellsJudge Howells has served as an Administrative Law Judge with the Office of State Administrative Hearings since 2006. As an Administrative Law Judge, she presides over a wide array of matters including driver's license suspensions, public benefit claims and fraud, child support enforcement, placement on the child abuse registry, professional license applications and sanctions, day care facility sanctions, and environmental permitting, to name a few. Prior to her appointment, Judge Howells practiced law in the areas of products liability, toxic torts, and general litigation, with Jones Day's Atlanta office. Before moving to Georgia, Judge Howells was a litigation associate with the New Orleans law firm of Montgomery Barnett. Judge Howells graduated from Loyola University School of Law, where she was a member of the Loyola Law Review and Moot Court staff. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Louisiana State University Medical Center. Prior to attending law school, she practiced as a registered nurse, specializing in cardiac care.
