Chris Escobar

A first-generation American, Chris has been proud to call Atlanta home for over a decade. Through his background as a filmmaker and live-event producer, Chris has been fortunate enough to help tell Atlanta’s story through signature events such as the Peach Drop and Lighting of the Macy’s Tree during his time working for Entertainment Design Group. More recently, in collaboration with Georgia State University, WSB-TV and the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Chris recently completed a project funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities to create an iPhone app that is an interactive-multimedia tour of the State of Georgia Capitol building. In 2010, Chris joined the Executive Board of Atlanta Film Festival 365 where he was able to help use the moving image art form to help tell more of Atlanta’s story, and has been working as the organization’s Executive Director since 2011 where he is continuing and growing the organization’s legacy, impact and service to the community. He is a Georgia State University graduate with a Master of Arts in Moving Image Studies with a concentration in production where he worked closely with the Digital Arts Entertainment Lab (DAEL) founded by one of the Atlanta Film Festival’s original founders, Kay Beck.
