Supervising Effectively


This is a critical course for anyone who is currently a supervisor or plans to become a supervisor. Learn four key components to success and lead teams to higher levels of performance. We'll discuss the key behaviors of highly effective leaders, the essential ingredients of motivation, the four crucial steps to effective delegation and other critical supervisory skills.

After this class, you will be able to:

  • Define the basic supervisory competencies required for managers
  • Use the five key supervisory competencies
  • Self-assess supervisory competencies in the areas of coaching, organizing the work, delegation and managing relations
  • Identify varying expectations of bosses, peers, and colleagues
  • Distinguish between management and leadership
  • Improve employee performance through delivery of goal-oriented performance appraisals, implementation of a delegation system, and well developed coaching competencies
  • Strengthen motivation through the use of values and beliefs
  • Differentiate common causes of conflict and suggested approaches for handling them
