As a Certified Six Sigma professional you are qualified to implement, lead and carry out Six Sigma initiatives. Green Belt vs. Black Belt: Which Belt is right for you?Curriculum OverviewThe two primary certifications are Green Belt and Black Belt, and each differs in certification requirements, responsibility, income opportunity, cost and recognition. The Emory Six Sigma Black Belt includes approximately 21 hours of online study and 56 hours (7 days) in the classroom. In addition, you are required to develop and complete an independent project based on a real business challenge. To obtain an Emory Six Sigma Black Belt Certificate, you will need to complete all online and in class coursework, an individual project and pass Emory’s Black Belt black belt exam with a with a minimum score of 75 percent. *Emory requires a Green Belt Certification in order to enroll in the Black Belt Certificate Program **All Black Belt students are required to bring a laptop to class. Certificate Recognition in the Business WorldMany companies recognize the value of having Green Belts on their staff. In addition, Six Sigma certifications are not regulated by any certifying body (i.e. as PMI is the certifying body for the PMP certification); making the reputation of the program you are certified by more important.
