Emory Certified Internal Auditor Program

Why Emory's Certified Internal Auditor Program is unique…

The Emory University Difference

The Emory Certified Internal Auditor program is the only university-based program offering available in most southern states. It also exemplifies to current or potential employers your commitment to professional development. Most employers understand the challenge an Emory education represents and recognize the elite status granted to participants completing one of Emory’s valuable programs.

Proven Curriculum

Our program utilizes The IIA’s CIA Learning System which is the comprehensive professional development and Certified Internal Auditor® (CIA®) exam preparation curriculum. It combines printed materials, Web-based tests and resources, and live instruction to teach the entire global CIA body of knowledge. Emory’s program offers premier training that meets the unique demands of internal audit professionals, employers, and instructors.

The Learning System is built upon the most current version 3.0 of The IIA’s CIA Learning System, which just became available July 15, 2010. This version features text and questions that are aligned with the 2010 International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF).

Expert, Certified Instructors

Emory CIA program instructors are appropriately trained, certified and approved by The IIA. In addition, Emory University maintains rigorous academic standards in our selection of instructors. Our instructors have demonstrated their teaching ability and superior knowledge of their subject matter. In addition to studying The IIA’s CIA Learning System, participants in this certificate program benefit from our instructor's wealth of real-world auditing experience. Their years as appropriately certified auditing professionals reinforce each of the CIA modular-based courses.

Flexible/Convenient Format

Emory's CIA program is formatted with working professionals in mind. Classes are scheduled on Saturdays with an accelerated format, allowing you to complete the certificate quickly and without interrupting your busy professional or personal life. Courses are scheduled over an 11-week period meeting from 9 am to 5 pm on the centrally located Emory Briarcliff Campus (1256 Briarcliff Rd., Bldg. B, Atlanta 30306).  Tuition currently includes an on-site luncheon on each scheduled Saturday class session. There is a break in the Saturday schedule between each course.

Certification Requirements

Participants must successfully complete the four courses (modules) in order to earn the Emory CIA certification. Success is determined based on the results of the course post-tests.  A CIA program certificate is awarded to all students who successfully complete all four courses. Certified professional education units (CPEs) are also awarded to all students successfully completing the program.  Students not registering for all four courses but seeking a program certification, may provide documentation of success on the relevant portion(s) of the CIA to be eligible for the full program certification. All four courses in the program must be completed within 12 months of enrolling in the first course. For all four (4) modules, please note that we can only provide certificates stating CPEs earned for those students who attend every class.
