Below are some comments from graduates of the Emory Certificate in Paralegal studies. At Emory, we pride ourselves on the positive responses of students and we take constructive feedback seriously, using it to improve our level of paralegal training and customer service.
Gerold E. Washington completed the paralegal program in March 2007. He currently works as a Legal Receivables Analyst for the Coca-Cola Company.
“The instructors and guest speakers gave us the insights and knowledge on what it takes to be a top notch paralegal. I know that when I’m given an assignment, I have the preparation to deliver quality results every time. Emory expects the best from you and you therefore expect the best from yourself.”
Lesley Kelley received her paralegal certificate from Emory in August 2005. She works as a Family Law Paralegal at Davis, Matthews & Quigley, P.C.. She mentioned the following when we asked her why she had chosen Emory’s Paralegal Certificate Program over the others she had researched.
“There were several reasons for my decision to attend ECE’s Paralegal Certificate Program. The fact that it was only a six-month program appealed to me in that I could complete the course quickly, and it seemed more challenging than most. The class schedule also allowed me to work full time while I was completing the program. Additionally, based on reputation, the Emory brand promises a high standard of education and speaks for itself when seeking employment.”
Pam Clark graduated from the Emory Paralegal Certificate Program December 2007. She currently works as a Paralegal for Hedrick & Edenfield, an Insurance Defense Firm. She had this say when we asked her how Emory has helped her to be successful in the paralegal field.
“[At Emory] we were taught very well to be self-sufficient and to know how and where to find the answers to our questions in the work place. Independence is the hallmark of a good paralegal. It is what sets paralegals apart from administrative staff. Several times in my job as a paralegal I have encountered specialty litigation terms with which I was unfamiliar. In every case I knew exactly how to go about getting information which I was able to validate.”
Michael H. Clezie, currently a Garnishment Paralegal for Thompson, O’Brien, Kemp, & Nasuti, P.C. in Norcross, received his paralegal certificate from Emory in December 2007. When asked what his biggest success as a paralegal has been, he answered:
“The trust I have received from the attorney’s I work for after only five months on the job. They give me a lot of autonomy knowing that I am completing my tasks in an accurate and timely manner and that I have shown that I can learn quickly and apply the knowledge to the tasks at hand.”
Gail B. Jackson, who graduated from Emory’s Paralegal Certificate Program in April 2008, currently works as a Paralegal Assistant for Jacobs, Slawsky & Barnett. She made the following comment about the value of Emory’s program in advancing her career.
“Now that I have the Paralegal Certificate I can submit my resume to any firm in Atlanta and with my qualifications I feel that I have an excellent chance of getting any job I am qualified for. The Certificate increases my pay scale and broadens my areas of expertise.”
