Certificate Requirements

Students must complete all requirements listed below to receive an Emory Web Certificate.

  • Four core classes
  • Approximately 106 hours of classroom time
  • Web Development Certificate students must pass the following exams with a score of 75%:
    • Introduction to Web Design and Development
    • HTML & CSS
    • Dreamweaver: Introduction
    • Introduction to Dynamic Websites
  • By taking and passing appropriate Blackboard assessments, candidates may "test out" of up to two core courses in the program. Candidates choosing to "test out" of core requirements must take additional electives to satisfy the hourly requirements. Candidates may not "test out" of the track courses
  • Candidates must receive a passing score of 70% in the Web Capstone course during which they complete an approved website project demonstrating the ability to apply professional techniques

1) Core Classes

Candidates must complete four core courses.

2) Web Developer Tracks

Candidates must complete all courses in either MS or OS Developer track.

PHP 19.5 hours
MySQL 13 hours
PHP2 19.5 hours
Javascript: Introduction 13 hours
Drupal for Developers 19.5 hours

Microsoft Developer track

 
ASP.NET 19.5 hours
SQL:Server 13 hours
AJAX 13 hours
ADO.net 13 hours
 

3) Capstone Course and project

Candidates must complete and receive a passing score in the Capstone course. During this course, students will complete a professional website project and be evaluated on their work.
