Certificate Requirements

Students must complete all requirements listed below to receive an Emory Web Certificate.

  • Six core classes
  • Approximately 100 hours of classroom time
  • Web Design Certificate students must pass the following exams with a minimum score of 75%:
    • Introduction to Web Design and Development
    • HTML & CSS
    • Dreamweaver: Introduction
    • Dreamweaver: Intermediate
    • Photoshop: Introduction
    • Web Graphics with Photoshop, Fireworks and Illustrator
  • By taking and passing appropriate Blackboard assessments, candidates may "test out" of up to two core courses in the program. Candidates choosing to "test out" of core requirements must take additional electives to satisfy the hourly requirements. Candidates may not "test out" of the track courses
  • Candidates must receive a passing score of 70% in the Web Capstone course during which they complete an approved website project demonstrating the ability to apply professional techniques

2) Web Design Certificate Tracks

Candidates may select one or more tracks from the options below and complete all noted courses to complete the track.

E-Commerce Track

 
How to Add E-Commerce to Your Website 13 hours
Search Engine Optimization & Marketing 6.5 hours
Google Analytics 6.5 hours
Attracting Traffic to Websites Thru Social Media 12 hours

Webmaster Track

 
Dynamic Web Content: Blogs, Wikis, and more 13 hours
Search Engine Optimization & Marketing 6.5 hours
Google Analytics 6.5 hours
Dreamweaver Level 3a 6.5 hours

Multimedia Track

 
Flash: Introduction 13 hours
Flash: Intermediate 13 hours
Adobe Premiere Pro 13 hours
Intro to HTML5 6.5 hours
Make Your Own YouTube Video 6.5 hours

3) Capstone Course and project

Candidates must complete and receive a passing score in the Capstone course. During this course, students will complete a professional website project and be evaluated on their work.
