After earning the Master of Arts degree from Belmont University in Nashville, TN, Jennifer Lentz taught developmental writing at Tennessee State University, and has taught English and writing as an adjunct instructor at Georgia State University since 2013. During a 20-year career in the medical field, she wrote cover story interviews with one of the cofounders of H&R Block, Richard Bloch, the founder of Occidental Petroleum, Dr. Armand Hammer, and interviewed Dr. Jonas Salk, among many other notables in the field of medicine. As Ms. Lentz was publishing a magazine for cancer patients, she developed a love for personal stories and the literary form memoir. She gained a heightened understanding of the stories that form a life, and how transformative those stories can be when shared appropriately. This led to an intense study of memoir and the development of a course in the form.
