Kevin Collins
Biography
Kevin is a Cornell graduate who has worked for several large studios, including
Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. and DreamWorks. After years of writing as hobby, he
took a draft of his screenplay, Talk Show, and used it to gain entrance into the Bill
Cosby Screenwriting Fellowship Program. Even though features were his primary focus,
Kevin eventually joined the production staff of the Showtime series Soul Food as a
writers’ assistant. In series television he learned invaluable knowledge about the
production process, from writing to post-production. After two seasons, Kevin received
his first produced credit when he wrote a free-lance episode of Soul Food. He was
subsequently hired as a staff writer in the show’s final season. Kevin’s most recent work
includes his freshman book The Unveiling: 1.0. It is the first installment of a sci-fi,
fantasy, adventure series based on ancient Sumerian Mythology. The second volume, The
Unveiling: 2.0, is due out later this fall. In recent years, Kevin has taught screenwriting
for the Atlanta Film Festival, the Creative Circus, and he is currently a professor at the
Atlanta campus of The Savannah College of Art and Design. In addition to teaching, he
has spoken on several panels about storytelling and filmmaking, both at DragonCon and
the Atlanta Film Festival. Kevin has lived in Africa and Europe and is fluent in French.
His memberships include Cornellians in Entertainment and two independent writers’
groups.
