Who should enroll?
This certificate is designed to meet the needs of 3 categories of special event producers:
- Those who are completely new to special event production and need a basic understanding of the process.
- Those who are currently working on special events (either full time or as part of other job responsibilities) and wish to develop new skills and problem-solving techniques.
- Those who are already successful practitioners in the field but are seeking specialized information and advanced insights into special event production.
Why should you get certified?
Special Event production is a blend of art and science. You'll study both as you explore the aesthetic details which make events sparkle, and the behind-the-scenes logistics which make the events safe and functional. This program will help you stay on top of the latest trends and technologies as well as the latest ways to make your events environmentally responsible. After completing this program you will be able to:
- Produce high quality events as a career or part-time work.
- Develop effective event objectives and build a timeline, budget, and program to meet those goals.
- Design event invitation/marketing materials.
- Solve event logistical issues (parking, safety, security) while encouraging "green" event practices.
- Select a venue and service providers and negotiate prices.
- Understand the lingo and the terminology for catering, AV, and more.
- Work with a client, vendors, and volunteers effectively.
