Certificate Program Requirements:

No additional enrollment criteria are required. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. There is a $35 non-refundable application fee to enter the program. The non-refundable application fee covers processing of the candidate’s application and tracking the participant's progress through the program. Discounts do not apply to the application fee. All fees must be paid to before starting the Capstone Course.

A mid-range digital SLR camera, with interchangeable lenses, and a tripod are required unless stated otherwise in description.  The camera should provide the ability to manually adjust shutter, aperture, and ISO function.  An 18 – 55mm lens is sufficient, and usually comes standard with a mid-range camera,  until the student is experienced enough to determine what other lenses are suitable for their particular photography interests.  A professional grade camera is not necessary.

Students must complete six required courses followed by an online capstone course within a 18 month period from enrolling. A Digital SLR camera and a tripod are required unless stated otherwise in description. Computer proficiency and access to Adobe Photoshop software is required as well.

Students must attend at least 80% of classes and complete all required coursework with 80% proficiency before a certificate of completion can be issued. Although courses may be taken sporadically to accommodate your busy schedule, please make note of the prerequisites for some courses.

*If you have successfully completed photography classes with us in the past 12 months, you might receive credit toward the certificate.  Please contact us at evening@emory.edu to confirm your credit eligibility.

If you are ready to enroll, please click here to pay your application fee online.
