Emory Au Pair Enrichment Program Overview

Designed specifically for au pairs and nannies looking to improve their English skills while learning more about American culture.

The Au Pair Enrichment Program consists of 40 hours of ESL instruction (20 hours in the classroom and 20 hours of outside of class assignments) with a certified ESL instructor and 20 hours of elective courses. The elective courses are an excellent way for Au Pairs to meet new friends in their American community and explore new hobbies. Electives vary each session and include courses such as dance, photography, writing, history and others. Students who meet all of the program's requirements will receive a certificate of completion.

Enrollment in the program requires:

• intermediate level English skills.

Completion of the program requires:

• attendance in at least 80% of the class sessions.

• completion of all outside class assignments.

• the program electives to be completed within one year of the ESL class start date.

• Au Pair Program Certificate requests should be made in writing by an email addressed to Dona Samia at dsamia@emory.edu. Course and elective hours will then be verified and approved. The certificate may take up to two weeks to be created and then mailed out through the U.S. Post Office to the address provided by the Au Pair.

Enrollment overview:

• Register and pay for the required ESL course.  Remember, your tuition includes the ESL course and your 20 hours of elective classes.

• Review the list of electives and make your selection(s).  To better fit your busy schedule, you don’t have to take all 20 hours of electives right now.  You have one year, from the start date of your ESL class, to complete the 20 hours of electives and new elective class options will be posted throughout the year.
