HTML5
IT@Emory computer education - Website Design and Development Training
HTML5 allows Web designers the ability to create richer, more meaningful Web pages with structural tags and descriptive attributes. Although, it is still officially under development, HTML5 is is being used today to develop Web pages. At its core, HTML5 aims to improve the markup language with support for the latest multimedia (free of need for proprietary plugins and APIs) while keeping it easily readable by end-users and browsers. HTML5 is intended to absorb HTML4, XHTML1, DOM2HTML and JavaScript, so what you need to learn and how browsers handle HTML5 develops from, instead of replaces, previous technology. This class presents an overview of HTML5 and its development, including new syntactical features such as the <video>, <audio>, <header> and <canvas> elements, as well as how browsers parse and display HTML5 content. We’ll also learn about the HTML5 outline algorithm and how it can help you define and structure your site content. We’ll construct an HTML5 document with a header, content groups and formatting, footer and navigation, and illustrate how to take advantage of many of these improvements. And because HTML5 provides mobile device users richer Web applications and improved usability, we’ll discuss how this will improve apps development.

Causes of World War I *NEW*
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute - Tuesday Morning
Historians still debate the causes of the war. Did the European nations stumble into war? Was any one nation responsible? Could the war have been avoided? We will consider the long range causes of the war beginning with the creation of Italy and Germany in the 1860s. The immediate events which led to the outbreak of war will be considered in detail. The catastrophic effects of World War I altered the course of world history. Over 8 million people died, and another 29 million were injured in a struggle that changed the social, political, economic, and cultural life of Europe. A whole generation of men in France was lost. The war devastated northeastern France and much of Germany. Four major empires collapsed; the nobility in these empires lost their power; Europe lost its dominant position in the world. Many think the war led to the Great Depression and to the rise of Hitler.

IT@Emory computer education - General Computer Training
The Certified Computer Examiner(CCE)® BootCamp is an intensive one week classroom and laboratory training course in computer forensic examinations that will teach you how to conduct forensically sound computer examinations that will prepare you to take the CCE certification examination. The CCE BootCamp® is the classroom version of the CFTCO.COM online training course. This is the original CCE BootCamp®. If you plan to testify in court, you the examiner, not the automated software product, must qualify as an "expert" witness. As an expert witness, you must know and be able to articulate what your automated software is doing. Our course will teach you how data is stored, where the data is located and how to recover all of the data. Our students will learn how to conduct thorough examinations and how to explain, interpret and draw the appropriate conclusions on what has been found and what it may mean. Regardless of which automated product that you may use, you will understand what the product is doing and you will be able to explain or testify about how and what you have found. We teach you how to conduct thorough examination, regardless of the tools that you use. Our course will teach you the core forensic procedures that will apply to examining any operating system or file system. During our course, we provide instruction on the logical structures of the FAT file system (** see why) utilized by DOS and Windows 9.x and the NTFS logical structures utilized by Windows NT, 2000 and XP. We have thoroughly studied the NTFS operating system and feel that our NTFS course material cannot be matched anywhere. The NTFS section provides detailed instruction about the partition table, the boot record, bitmaps, the root directory, the MFT, headers, attributes, resident files, non-resident files, run lists, alternate data streams, etc. Our training focus is not only on forensic recovery techniques, but on ensuring that what you find can be admitted in court. You will learn how to establish and use sound evidence handling procedures and how to conduct examinations using sound forensic examination procedures. Costs for initial online test is included in the tuition. Prerequisite: None.

Essentials of Change for Managers
Professional Education Classes - Management Skills
In every organization today, regardless of size, industry or location, change is a constant. Managers must recognize change and help their employees deal with it in a realistic and strategic manner using sound principles and workable tools. Managers must realize that people don’t resist change as much as they resist being changed. All of us respond to change differently. We don’t start at the same place, adapt at the same pace or end up in the same place. Organizational leaders don’t control change or uncertainty; rather they guide, shape and influence it.

Strategic Communications in the Workplace
Communication is more than talking and listening. Genuine communication requires a deep understanding of another person’s perspective. But when you take into consideration all of our biases, behavioral idiosyncrasies, unspoken emotions, and personal agendas, this can seem almost impossible to achieve. The communications assessment instrument called DiSC© helps people understand each other on a more fundamental level. This program develops the skills to read other people and see how others interpret their behaviors. It creates a deep seated appreciation for the needs of their co-workers. Ultimately, the program helps participants adapt their communication styles in a way that creates an enduring working alliance among team members and fosters a deeper sense of organizational engagement.
