Project Management: Quality Tools & Techniques


Project Quality includes both project management deliverables and project deliverables from the beginning to the end of the project. Most successful projects begin planning for quality early and then monitor and measure it throughout the project’s execution. Quality management includes all of the processes needed to assure and control all deliverables meet quality standards and is based on proper quality planning at the project inception.

In this course, participants will learn many of the industry accepted tools and techniques (e.g. Cost of Quality, Statistical Sampling, Control Charts) and various quality models and approaches.

After completing this program, participants will be able to:

  • Develop a plan to manage the processes and activities to produce project deliverables
  • Assess the application of quality processes on a project to assure the level of quality produced by the project team meets customer requirements and expectations
  • Utilize quality tools and techniques to measure the project results to verify they satisfy the project scope and requirements

Lesson 1. Plan Quality Management
  • Develop a Quality Management Plan with the appropriate processes, tools and techniques to meet the project objectives
  • Know the Seven Basic Quality Tools and how they can be utilized

Lesson 2. Perform Quality Assurance

  • Know the value of assessing how the project team is utilizing the processes outlined in the Quality Management Plan
  • Recognize areas of improvement and taking corrective actions as necessary

Lesson 3. Control Quality

  • Utilize the processes to measure project results to verify customer requirements have been met
  • Know the major quality management theories and how they can be applied
