Project Management: Human Resources Tools & Techniques


Managing the project team can be one of the more complex elements of ensuring successful completion of a project. In addition to individuals performing project work, it is important to recognize cultural differences and to be able to appropriately influence factors that impact the project. This begins at project initiation through project close and the Project Manager must successfully navigate any potential conflicts and promote teamwork.

In this course, the participants will learn how to gain insight into keeping the project team focused and providing direction to lead the project to a successful conclusion.

  • Provide insight into the acquisition and creation of an appropriate team structure
  • Create a positive team environment and culture
  • Apply appropriate conflict resolution techniques and utilize motivation skills to achieve project results

Lesson 1. Plan Human Resource Management
  • Document appropriate Roles and Responsibilities for the project team through the use of a RACI chart
  • Develop a Staffing Management Plan

Lesson 2. Acquire Project Team

  • Recognize resource availability on the project and how best to utilize them
  • Provide a means for the project team to collaborate depending on physical or virtual demands

Lesson 3. Develop Project Team

  • Create a team environment that encourages collaboration
  • Apply techniques that provides a safe and productive project team environment

Lesson 4. Manage Project Team

  • Recognize how conflict can occur, the different conflict resolution techniques and their application
  • Direct and motivate the project team through utilization of motivation models
