Our course will describe exactly what to expect during various marriage-related circumstances so that you can plan the best approach to successfully manage your money -- both jointly and individually.
After this class, you will be able to:

  • Describe the three primary planning areas in which you need to merge your finances effectively as a married couple: net worth, cash flow, and taxes
  • Assess your personal money management style so you can work with your spouse to meet your financial goals as a married couple
  • Explain how to protect your personal assets from being accessed by your spouse and avoid liability for debts incurred by your spouse

Lesson 2: Your Finances as a Married Person
  • Merging your finances
  • Determine when it is better to file your taxes jointly versus separately
  • How to bridge individual money management styles to create a unified budget management system based on combined incomes
  • How to create a plan to save for common goals such as kids, buying a home, retirement
  • Identify the three D’s: Death, Divorce, and Disability; the risk you face in each situation, and how to protect yourself
