Communication Skills for Your Career

Verbal communication is uniquely human, but we aren't born with excellent skills. They must be developed. Come explore and learn the basics of interpersonal communication, along with strategies for building, repairing and enhancing working relationships. Come learn simple, effective communication techniques and develop the skills you need in both your professional and social lives.

Executive Presence for the Non-Executive

As professionals progress through the early stages of their careers, performance and results often matter most. But moving forward, executive presence -- or lack thereof -- can significantly impact an individual’s career growth. Our introspective and engaging two-day course takes a close look at author Sylvia Ann Hewlett’s three pillars of executive presence: how you act (gravitas), how you speak (communication) and how you look (appearance). Join us to develop a specific plan for achieving the presence which executives admire: learn to project confidence, demonstrate emotional intelligence, command the room, polish your appearance and more as you strive for the ‘it’ factor in order to open executive-level doors.

Completion of a brief, online assessment prior to the course is required; to ensure timely analysis, we recommend enrolling at least 3-5 days prior to course start date.

Managing Difficult Conversations and Situations

Difficult situations often arise in the workplace. This course addresses the more common situations and people and identifies strategies for dealing with them. Participants in this course will be exposed to the basic communication strategies that can work across all difficult behavior situations. This will help participants realize that the more proficient we are at managing ourselves the more confident we become managing difficult conversations and situations. Project Communications is one of the most important fundamental activities in successful project execution. Strategic Communications in the Workplace

Communication is more than talking and listening. Genuine communication requires a deep understanding of another person’s perspective. But when you take into consideration all of our biases, behavioral idiosyncrasies, unspoken emotions, and personal agendas, this can seem almost impossible to achieve. The communications assessment instrument called DiSC© helps people understand each other on a more fundamental level. This course develops the skills to read other people and see how others interpret their behaviors. It creates a deep seated appreciation for the needs of their co-workers. Ultimately, the program helps participants adapt their communication styles in a way that creates an enduring working alliance among team members and fosters a deeper sense of organizational engagement.
