Essentials of Change for Managers |
In every organization today, regardless of size, industry or location, change is a constant. Managers must recognize change and help their employees deal with it in a realistic and strategic manner using sound principles and workable tools. Managers must realize that people don’t resist change as much as they resist being changed. All of us respond to change differently. We don’t start at the same place, adapt at the same pace or end up in the same place. Organizational leaders don’t control change or uncertainty; rather they guide, shape and influence it.
After this class, you will be able to:
- Recognize the impact that change has on managers, employees, customers and other stakeholders
- Use behavioral styles knowledge to understand how each style responds to change
- Identify appropriate action plans in dealing with change in a healthy manner
- Apply an integrated model for leading change within the organization
- Develop resiliency in themselves and those affected by change
- Lead and not just manage during times of change and uncertainty

Managing Problem Employees |
| Wondering what to do with a problem employee? Is this one of those moments where you are asking yourself why you ever wanted to be a manager? You are not alone.
Despite managers’ best efforts to hire smartly, they can end up with difficult problem employee situations that put the business at risk. And this challenge becomes even more troublesome when that employee does not believe that what they are doing is a problem. Typically, past attempts by managers to correct these situations have resulted in strong employee resistance including refusal by the employee to rectify the problem. And ignoring the situation can have severe negative consequences on workgroup morale and business results.
This unacceptable situation can be effectively resolved. This no-nonsense workshop will provide the manager with the proven techniques necessary to successfully handle these tricky types of situations with their employees when they arise and the skills to effectively and legally deal with the “problem employee”.

Stepping Up to Management Certificate Bootcamp |
This program is targeted at employees who are perceived by the management team to have the potential knowledge, skills and abilities to assume a formal leadership role in the organization. Their management readiness ranges from “ready now” to “ready in 1-2 years.” The high potential employee has been recognized for quality work in his/her current role and meets performance goals in a timely manner. This employee is usually perceived as fitting in well with the organizational culture; has expressed interest in taking on a larger role and is viewed as worth the risk of investing additional organizational resources to prepare him/her for expanded responsibilities and accountabilities. High potential employees form the organization’s bench strength for the future and they clearly warrant additional investment to realize their value to the organization. Recognizing high potential employees and proactively developing them for roles of increased responsibility makes good sense when one takes a holistic view of the organization.
After this class, you will be able to:
- Establish a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a manager
- Identify the critical management activities and necessary skills to acquire
- Develop communication skills and enhance interpersonal relationships in the workplace
- Gain insight into handling typical demanding management situations
- Create a personal career transition plan

Strategic Communications in the Workplace |
New synchronous online course offering coming Summer 2013!
Communication is more than talking and listening. Genuine communication requires a deep understanding of another person’s perspective. But when you take into consideration all of our biases, behavioral idiosyncrasies, unspoken emotions, and personal agendas, this can seem almost impossible to achieve. The communications assessment instrument called DiSC© helps people understand each other on a more fundamental level. This program develops the skills to read other people and see how others interpret their behaviors. It creates a deep seated appreciation for the needs of their co-workers. Ultimately, the program helps participants adapt their communication styles in a way that creates an enduring working alliance among team members and fosters a deeper sense of organizational engagement.
